Unusual antique carved diamond shaped oak box

This is the most unusual antique oak box, diamond shaped, with a stunning hand-carved top, I suspect salvaged from another piece, and a lock, though alas no key.
It measures approx 7 1/4″ by 4 1/4″ by 3 1/2″ tall, and is in good condition, with no cracks, just slight warping to the lid.
